Troubleshooting missing drafts

HeyHelp automatically generates draft replies to emails in your Inbox that are tagged as “Action required.”

If drafts aren’t appearing, here are the most common reasons (and how to fix them):

AI drafts not enabled

Go to HeyHelp dashboard → Gmail → Smart reply
Toggle AI drafts ON

💡 Drafts only start appearing for new emails once this is enabled.

AI tag not enabled

AI drafts are associated with tags and need AI tagging to be enabled to function properly.

Drafts rely on tags. If tagging is off, drafts won’t work.
Go to HeyHelp dashboard → Gmail → Auto-tag
Toggle Auto-tagging ON

Emails skipping the inbox

Drafts only generate for emails in your Inbox.
If you have Gmail filters with “Skip Inbox,” drafts won’t appear for those.

Aliases not set up

If you use Gmail aliases, add them in HeyHelp:Dashboard → Gmail → Smart reply → Email aliasesAdd each alias linked to your account

Once added, drafts will generate for emails sent to those aliases (as long as they land in the Inbox).

Conversation view disabled

Drafts require Gmail’s Conversation view to be ON. Check Gmail settings to confirm it’s enabled.
